Baby Cache is now 14 days old and she’s doing well. Yesterday, the nurse told us that she already consumes 10 cc of milk every feeding. The light on her incubator was turned off (I guess this is a good sign) and the plaster on her eyes was also removed. Only the dextrose, tube in her mouth (for feeding) and the antibiotic “tube” (placed on her left hand) remain. Job and I are very happy because we were able to take a picture of Cache yesterday. Thanks to the nurse who took it (bawal ksi dahil super sensitive ang mga babies inside the room…buti na lng off duty ang head nurse, hehehe). When we saw her picture in the cellphone, we thought it’s another baby coz she really look different now compared to her picture last week. She looks like Tatay David now (Job’s father) unlike last time she looked like Papa Willy (my father). :)

Ito na ngayon itsura ni Cache…the next Kung Fu Kid!

Anyway, Baby Cache has found a friend. Her name is Angelika (Angel for short) who was also born prematurely at 30 weeks last April 3. They first met in the neonatal intensive care unit and they were both transfered in the nursery on the same day (sila lng dalawa ang nasa incubator na nilagay sa nursery).

Got this from a friend of my husband posted at PinoyDSL.net and I was really touched by this prayer. This is for our baby Cache and her fellow preemies.

PREMATURE BABY PRAYER

God bless the little child behind the plastic wall
For all he knows is the ringing of the bells and
the blurred images around him. He has been taken
from my womb without warning and I long to hold him
in my arms.

Lord, I ask in your name that my child be healed.
I am willing to accept your decision no matter what
it will be. I am willing to take on the responsibilities
for caring for this child. I am willing to give this
child love and understanding no matter the cost.

Our baby Cache is eight days old now. I went to the hospital this morning to deliver breast milk for her (the first time i’m visiting our baby since I got out from the hospital…Job is in Gensan since yesterday). I had the chance to talk to her pediatrician (a neonatologist) and she told me that they stopped feeding Cache because she vomited twice last Sunday. The first one was a yellowish substance and the second was greenish in color. The doctor said that this was quite alarming so they had Cache checked by a pediatric surgeon. She underwent abdominal ultrasound and they saw a little “something” in her stomach but according to them, the finding is not that significant. They are suspecting of an obstruction in her intestines or stress ulcer (hopefully it’s not an infection). Cache is under observation and if her condition improves, she will be given breast milk tomorrow. She now consumes 12 cc of milk per feeding and she weighs 980 grams (from 1.18 kgs). The doctor told us that normally, during the first seven to ten days, a baby loses weight because of the removal of body fluids. Also, there are times that she stops breathing (again this is common to premature babies) so they increase the amount of oxygen given to her.

Requesting more of your prayers as Job and I continue to hold on to God and entrust Him the life of our precious baby girl. We love you Cache… Itay and Inay are here for you!

Today liezl received a text message from davao doctors informing us to go
to the hospital because we need to sign for a transfusion.

kinabahan kami kasi it was the first time the hospital texted us to go to the hospital.
tapos meron pa word na “transfusion”
plus the message was sent 10:36am and we were able read it
at almost 12noon..

dali-dali akong naligo para pumunta sa hospital.
when i got there, the doctor informed me about baby cache status.
last night nagsuka sya due to some infection, natakot ako when i heard
of it. Doctor explained to me about it and halos hinde ko maintindihan

but then doctor assured me that baby is ok right now
she just needs some Fresh Frozen Plasma, its part of our blood
to refill baby cache blood.

the nurse gave me a request form which i need to buy in Davao Blood Bank Center.

baby cache needs 3 bags. It cost P700 pero bag, so 3bags costs P2100.

If you are a blood donor and your immediate relative needs it, it will only cost you P300 per bag.
in the future, magdodonate po ako. pero not now kasi im kinda stress…
